Cathedral of Silence

There are places that do not speak loudly, yet say everything.

This image was captured in a space shaped by raw concrete and repetition, where architecture becomes rhythm. The structure rises and folds into itself, forming a corridor that feels almost sacred. Each curve leads the eye forward, pulling you deeper into the frame, into a quiet that feels endless.

What fascinates me is the balance between weight and lightness. The concrete is massive, almost oppressive, yet the symmetry and the soft light give it an unexpected elegance. It is as if the structure breathes, expanding and narrowing in a slow, silent motion.

Photographed with a Leica Monochrom and a 35mm Leica Noctilux-M, the scene reveals a depth that goes beyond the visible. The lens renders the transitions between light and shadow with a softness that feels almost tactile, while still preserving the sharp geometry of the structure.

Black and white was not a choice, but a necessity. Color would have distracted from the essence — the lines, the textures, the shadows. Here, everything is reduced to form and contrast. The eye is free to wander, to get lost in the geometry.

The image was later recognized with an architecture photography award in London, a quiet confirmation of what I had felt in that moment.

Standing there, I felt small, but not insignificant. More like part of something larger, something timeless. Spaces like this remind me why I photograph — not just to document, but to interpret what a place makes me feel.

This is not just architecture. It is a moment of stillness carved into stone.

And if you stay with it long enough, you start to hear the silence.
