Silent Giant

I stood closer than I probably should have — a 35mm lens between me and one of Africa’s last true giants.

Captured during my South Africa safari tour with my Leica Monochrom Typ 246 and a 35mm lens, the moment felt raw, immediate, and intensely real.

No fence. No distance. Only trust, instinct, and silence.

Every wrinkle, every movement, every breath carried the weight of something ancient.

In that moment, photography was no longer about capturing wildlife. It was about witnessing presence.
